Celebrating International Credit Union Day: October 15, 2020

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. This year’s theme, Inspiring Hope for a Global Community, celebrates 72 years of the worldwide credit union movement, its history and achievements.

What does it mean to be a part of a credit union?

As a member, you’re an owner and have a say in the direction of the credit union. You’re part of a community; a community that has a vested interest in the well-being of the places we call home. Thanks to you, we’re able to provide financial solutions and advice that put people before profits while also supporting hundreds of local events, programs and services that are helping to build stronger communities.

How will we celebrate?

COVID-19 has impacted our lives in ways we never imagined, and though our celebrations will look a little different this year than in past, it certainly doesn’t dampen our enthusiasm and appreciation of you, our members, who make it all possible.

You may recall in past years, our Credit Union Day celebrations included what we call our Day of Difference where over 500 employees of Interior Savings Credit Union and Insurance Services get out into the community and roll up their sleeves to lend a hand with local non-profits. The uncertainty that has come with the pandemic has put a pause on this mass volunteering effort. However, it does not impact our desire to lend a helping hand.

Instead of volunteering, our teams will be making a positive difference in our communities in other ways. It may include donations to local non-profits or surprise acts of kindness. Watch our social media channels for updates, or ask our team about their plans the next time you’re in branch.

Thank you for being a member. Collectively, and cooperatively, we make a difference.
