Meet Dustin Andrei, an eleven year Interior Savings veteran, Dustin has had multiple roles within the organization. The friendliest guy you’ll ever meet, Dustin organizes a weekly kayaking meet up, which he has proudly dubbed Paddle Pals, creating a chance for his coworkers to meet up and be active in the summer together.
We asked Dustin a few questions about life, local love and working at Interior Savings. Here’s what he had to say.
What has your career journey been like at Interior Savings?
I started off as a teller in the West Kelowna branch (#WestSideForLife), and then became an Financial Services Representative working out of Lake Country. From there I went back to West Kelowna, and then worked at Kelowna branch. I then had the opportunity to help open our Member Service Centre; being from the branch gave me and my co-workers a good foundation to be successful. I eventually became a team lead at the Member Service Centre before moving into my current role as an Employee Development Coordinator.
Where can you be found when you’re not working?
Outside of work I like to be active, hiking, running and kayaking. I like to take on new challenges. After completing a few half marathons, I did the Across the Lake Swim. Next year I am looking at doing a mini-triathlon!
What do you like about working at Interior Savings?
The people that I get to work with are amazing! We are so lucky to be able to work at a place that is local in such an amazing community.
What does supporting local mean to you? Why is it important?
Supporting local means trying to shop and do business with locally owned businesses. By supporting local businesses, more of each dollar that you spend will stay in the community.
What’s your favorite local place to eat?
I love the Little Hobo Café in Downtown Kelowna. Everything they serve feels like home cooking and the owners are amazing, inviting people.
What’s the best piece of financial advice you’ve ever received?
When everyone you know is telling you to buy something – don’t buy it. When everyone is telling you this is not the time to buy something – Buy it.
What is your favourite Interior Savings sponsored local event?
Moonlight Movie Night! I think it is just an amazing family event that everyone can enjoy and creates a real sense of community.
