Meet Candace, a Member Service Agent at our Member Service Centre. Candace is one of the experts available to help our members over the phone. With almost ten years at Interior savings, Candace spent 7 years working at our Merritt branch, and now is nearing three years at our Member Service Centre.
A social butterfly, Candace is always working to plan activities in and out of the work place (you’re going to want to take part in their increasingly popular after-work Wine Wednesdays!) The fun doesn’t stop there, Candace once made a rap video to help teach members about common types of fraud and how to prevent them!
We sat down with Candace and asked her a few questions about life, local love and working at Interior Savings. Here’s what she had to say.
What has your career journey been like at Interior Savings?
I started as a part-time teller in the Merritt branch. At one point my main job was to balance the ATMs for my full shift! I then left Merritt and moved to the Okanagan which brought me to the Member Service Centre. I have moved quickly from an Agent I to an Agent II, meaning that I have the opportunity to work on loan and mortgage applications with members over the phone.
Where can you be found when you’re not working?
I love working out. It gives me a chance to focus on myself while catching up on the latest podcasts that I enjoy.
What do you like about working at Interior Savings?
The people. Our members are so friendly, and my co-workers are like family.
What does supporting local mean to you? Why is it important?
Supporting local to me means buying from locally owned businesses and working towards strengthening our community. It is so important because local businesses are owned and operated by our neighbors. When they are successful, we all are.
What’s your favorite local place to shop/eat/play?
Shopping: Blue Ginger on Pandosy. It is the best spot for unique items for yourself, or for a gift.
Eat: Parlour Ice Cream. We take all of our visitors here and they love it!
Play: Scandia. There is so much to do there, and nothing beats feeling like a kid again!
What’s the best piece of financial advice you’ve ever received?
Set aside a portion of your paycheque for savings. Even $10 per cheque can add up!
What is your favourite Interior Savings Sponsored local event?
The Across the Lake Swim. I had the pleasure of participating the first year I moved to Kelowna. It was well organized, and a lot of fun for participants, volunteers, and observers.
Who would you nominate for the next feature and why?
Dustin Andrei! He has been with Interior Savings for a number of years, and has held a variety of roles with the company. He is also involved in the community through his participation in local events and volunteering.
