Motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. Given the fact that so much of our life is spent at work, those of us at Interior Savings have the good fortune of keeping some pretty first-rate company.
You’ve probably heard the expression “like attracts like”. Therefore as an organization with a focus on building community, we tend to attract community minded employees. We work hard to support our employees in their volunteer efforts and they in turn take the opportunity to shine. In 2017 our employees volunteers a total of 10, 592 hours and we recognized 25 employees for outstanding volunteer commitments of over 100 hours of volunteering each.
Our Employee Volunteer Program includes our annual “Day of Difference”, two hours per month to volunteer during work time, an employee pledge program and, of course, rewards and recognition for employees who reach volunteering milestones.
In addition to a robust culture of volunteerism, our 500+ employees also come to work every day and embody the Credit Union mantra “People Helping People”. They serve their communities and offer honest financial advice and services.
“It’s not flashy. It’s not fancy. It’s solid. It’s something you can be proud of and your members can count on” (How to Become a Credit Union Ninja, Alison Barksdale, CUInsight).
They are proud of the work they do, and we are proud of them. So on the heels of Labour Day we’re kicking off “Powered by People” a bi-monthly feature that highlights the people behind our business; from the front line staff that day in and day out uphold the core values of our organization to upper management and the board of directors that keep us on a forward trajectory while holding true to the cooperative principles that define us, these are the people that execute on our vision to be the best in the communities we serve.
