Dust off those cowboy boots and get ready for the 2nd annual KTRA Hoe Down Presented by Interior Savings. This family friendly event on March 7, 6:00 pm at Colombo Lodge in Kamloops has all the ingredients needed for a fun night out: food, live music, silent auction, dancing (including lessons), and it’s all in support of a great cause!
Described as their largest fundraiser of the year, Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association (KTRA) has set their sights on raising $20,000 to support the programs and services that make a difference to so many in our community. If you’re not familiar with their work, KTRA offers therapeutic riding lessons for youth and adults with diversabilities, and youth at risk. With help from volunteers and of course, their beloved horses, KTRA helps to build confidence, strength and perhaps most importantly, a sense of belonging for the youth and adults who participate in their programs.
“Physically, she has gained strength in her core and legs and this has resulted in improved posture and endurance. Mentally and emotionally, she has gained confidence from being able to control such a large animal and make it respond to her commands as well as from enjoying success at the horse show. She remarked after that it was the first ribbon she had ever won in her whole life! Socially, she chats away with the instructors and classmates and has found a sense of community with the gang on her day.”
