Approximately 40,000 people will descend on Kamloops’ Riverside Park August 11 – 13th to take part in the event of the season, and we hope you’ll join us!
Interior Savings Ribfest, presented by Daybreak Rotary is back with its championship Ribbers competing and serving up their mouth-watering ribs in a festival atmosphere that will include music and activities for all ages.
What you may not know about this popular event is the incredible impact it has on the community long after the last tent has been folded up. Since 2012, over $392,000 has been raised through this event and 100% of those proceeds have been invested back into community programs. The Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops Power Start Program is one of those programs.
There are a number of kids right here in our community that simply aren’t able to get to school without a little community support. On school days, the Power Start Program phones kids in the morning, picks them up at home, and gets them to school. Once at the school, children are fed a nutritious, healthy breakfast and then join Club program staff in movement, relaxation, grooming and preparation for the school day. When school begins, the children go to their classrooms ready to learn with a nutritious snack for recess.
This is just one example of how Ribfest is making a difference to youth in our community. Feeling inspired? Want to help the Ribfest Committee pull off another successful event? The event requires over 300 volunteers so grab your friends and family, and register to be a volunteer here.
