There are two kinds of people in the world: those who have already experienced the benefits of working with a credit union, and those who still have the opportunity to experience these perks for the first time. If you’re the latter, this post is for you—here are five perks of working with a credit union to improve your financial health and secure the future you deserve.

Credit unions give back

When you work with a credit union, you’re supporting a local business that actively (and enthusiastically!) gives back to their community. Last year, Interior Savings invested over $500,000 in community programs here in British Columbia. We are proud to support a number of nonprofit organizations in each of the communities we work in. In addition to financial support, we donate our time by participating in charitable events and fundraisers as a team. It’s a fun, meaningful way for our team to spend time together and a great way to connect with our members and our community.

There’s no place like home

By saving and investing with a credit union, you’re keeping your money local. Interior Savings isn’t a massive national bank—it’s a local business that invests in the communities you know and love. That said, there’s nothing small about our expertise or client service. We’re focused on your success, but we’re keeping those economic cycles turning close to home. It’s a win for everyone involved, and we’re proud to be both skilled and locally-focused.

You always get your share

Interior Savings gives back member rewards every spring. This means that our clients get money back in their pockets as a thank you for their business. Over the past decade, Interior Savings has given back nearly 30 million dollars in member rewards, bursaries and dividends. This year, we will be giving $3.4 million of our profits back to members: $2.7 million in Member Rewards, $600,000 in bursaries and $100,000 in dividends. That’s a lot of rewards—and our clients deserve every last dollar.

There’s no product pushing

At Interior Savings, we’re financial experts—not salespeople. Our first and only concern is your financial well-being, so we never push products or pressure you to make decisions you’re not comfortable with. Instead, we offer dedicated, highly personalized guidance that reflects your unique needs, goals and family situation. We put you first because to us, you’re not just a number or a sale—you’re a neighbour, a community member and a valued client. That’s the way it should be.

You’re in charge

Our members are our shareholders, so not only are you part of the leadership of Interior Savings, it’s in our best interests to serve you well. We share in your happiness and success, and we’re here to support you in achieving your goals. As a financial institution, we don’t have any secrets—here’s a look at our most recent governance reports, if you’re interested.
