“Helping my members realize they can plan for their future or they can retire comfortably is thanks in itself. When I see the lightbulb turn on and a smile on their face I feel very successful.” – Lara

Lara loves painting, the outdoors, supporting her local community and making memories with her husband and 2 children.
We asked Lara a few questions about life, local love and working at Interior Savings. Here’s what she had to say.
What causes or organizations are you passionate about?
I am on the Board of Directors for a not-for-profit youth and family counseling program called “Reach Out”. Youth mental illness is such an important issue and as a mother it’s something that strikes a chord with me. There is so much that can be done to help and support our young people struggling with mental well being and “Reach Out” is a wonderful organization that makes sure kids get the attention they need.
What does supporting local mean to you? Why is it important?
I love Kelowna and will go out of my way to support local businesses – they’re what make our community unique.
What are some of your favorite local places to shop/eat/play?
I have many favorites!! I love to shop at ‘Funktional’ downtown – lots of my artist friends showcase their items there. ‘Green and Bear It’ in the Mission is my favorite destination for unique gifts and one of a kind clothing items.
When it comes to local dining, The Curious Café is my number one choice for eating out. If we’re ordering in, my family loves DunnEnzies Pizza Co. and sushi from Joon’s Kitchen.
We are so fortunate to live in this beautiful city! Our family loves to play at the lake – we really like kayaking. We also enjoy hiking and cycling at Myra Canyon.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
No matter what job you do…be the best at it.
Are you a spender or a saver?
BOTH! I believe in balance. I enjoy life now and make plans to enjoy it in the future as well.
What’s your biggest indulgence?
I have two. First of all, I LOVE good shoes. I have problems with my feet so I have to buy good shoes; comfy and stylish feet make me happy. Second is my hair. Nothing can ruin your day faster than bad hair. I spend a small fortune on my hair but it makes me happy.
Who would you nominate for the next feature and why?
Jan Kranenburg- Jan has had a long and successful career at ISCU. She truly cares about her staff and I have personally always felt very supported by her. She embodies the Interior Savings culture and values and sets a great example for her team. She is just a wonderful person.
Ken Wingrove- He has been a WONDERFUL addition to Interior Savings. As a Manager, he makes it known that he has your back and is very supportive of his team.
Thank you Lara for walking the talk daily. Your genuine authenticity and collaborative team approach is very evident and continues to drive success for both your members and Interior Savings.
Your contributions are appreciated and we’re fortunate to have you!
