Mark your calendar! We have two tasty events coming up in August that will have your stomach growling with anticipation; and better yet, both are being served with a side of positive community impact!

If you’ve never attended a Ribfest event, you’re in for a treat. If you have attended in past, you know the family-fun and delicious eats that await you. Ribfest will be landing in both Kamloops and Kelowna this summer, and you don’t want to miss it! Read on for all of the details.

Kamloops Ribfest | Aug 10 – 12th

Celebrating its 7th year, “Kamloop Ribfest” is back Aug 10 – 12th in Riverside Park. Presented by the hard-working folks at Daybreak Rotary, it attracts over 40,000 people over three days and is filled with free entertainment and activities – literally providing something for everyone. And of course, let’s not forget the food! Six champion Ribber teams will compete for trophies and bragging rights for best ribs, best sauce and people’s choice.  Learn more about the Ribbers here.

Since 2012, over $500,000 has been raised through this event and 100% of those proceeds have been invested back into community programs including Boys & Girls Clubs of Kamloops “Power Start Breakfast” program, Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House and so many more.

Kelowna Ribfest | Aug 24 – 26th

Following two successful events in 2016 and 2017, “Interior Savings Sunrise Rotary Ribfest” is back for its third year in Kelowna’s City Park, August 24-26th.  Though a relatively new event to Kelowna, it has grown by leaps and bounds; even being recognized in the Best of Kelowna awards – a significant accolade as it shows the local support behind this event, and dedication of the Sunrise Rotary team. There’s no question that 2018 promises to build on that success.

What can you expect? This family-friendly event will highlight five champion Ribbers from across the country who will serve up their best and compete for your votes. In addition to lots of great food, there will be a ton of live music, entertainment and a Kids Zone – all free to enjoy.

Over the last two years, this event has raised over $70,000 to support local organizations, including Shoe Bank Canada and Canadian Mental Health Association. This year’s major beneficiary is JoeAnna’s House: a home-away-from-home to keep families together when they need it most.

How can you get involved?

That’s easy! Grab your family and friends and enjoy a day – or three days of Ribest fun! There’s also lots of opportunities to roll up your sleeves and volunteer. Head on over to their respective websites for more details and to apply.

We’re proud to support these events and see first-hand the incredible show of support by the community for the community. Together, let’s break attendance records at both of these events and help support local organizations who do some much to make our communities healthy and vibrant! We can’t wait to see you there!
