“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” -Winston Churchill

Since 2011, our very own Heidi Miller has volunteered for Co-operative Development Foundation (CDF) of Canada Women’s Mentorship Program. The experience has been nothing short of life-changing, not only for the participants, but for Heidi too.

CDF Canada is an international development organization building prosperity in communities around the world. They work with local partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America to establish and grow community-owned co-operatives to help people achieve more prosperous, self-reliant lives. Being a co-operative, they are guided by the same seven co-operative principles that are at the very heart of what it means to be a credit union, including concern for community, democratic member control and cooperation among co-operatives.

CDF’s Women’s Mentorship Program has created opportunities for learning and sharing of knowledge – and it’s created lasting connections among people who might not have the opportunity to connect otherwise. The experience continues to be a highlight for Heidi, and listening to her talk about it, you can’t help but be inspired by her passion and commitment.

We’re pleased to share that Heidi is about to embark on another volunteer adventure and we couldn’t be more proud and excited for her. Watch her story below to learn more.
