“Grow old with me. The best is yet to be.” This famous quote from Robert Browning speaks to the wonderful journey that aging brings, and with a little help and knowledge along the way, aging can truly be a positive experience.

March is Okanagan Embrace Aging Month. UBC’s Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention, Interior Savings and Interior Health have again teamed up to inspire and inform our community on steps we can all take to age well – both mentally and physically.

The line-up of seminars and workshops (43 in total!) covers topics such as mental and physical fitness, managing chronic pain, optimizing sleep, reflexology, strategies to delay dementia, intergenerational housing, technology tips and tricks, and even a cooking class – and that’s just a small sample.

We’re also bringing back our popular estate planning and scam prevention seminars – both are a wonderful opportunity to tap into our expertise, and have all of your questions answered.

Feature Event

If you’re familiar with Okanagan Embrace Aging Month, you likely recall that we typically offer a special event to celebrate the month. This year is no exception with a FREE screening of Alive Inside; a multiple-award winning documentary that will move you to tears, and cheers.

Filmmaker Michael Rossato-Bennett captures the extraordinary power of personalized music to awaken memories and create moments of joy, peace and connection – the very things that can disappear with ailments such as dementia.

And that’s not all! The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the film’s director, Michael Rossato-Bennett. You don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity!

For those not in the Central Okanagan, we have great news! We’re bringing this feature event to both Oliver and Kamloops as well. Details and registration link have been included on the Okanagan Embrace Aging website; see the link below.
